Waiting for Jesus’ Second Coming
AD 50 and forward
The New Testament
~ Before Jesus returns again, there is much work to be done!
Jesus said: “This gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Mat. 24:14). Through the Word of God, which is living and active, and the Spirit’s power working within us, the Church continues the work begun in Acts—to shine the light of Christ in every corner of the world until all have heard.
As we wait for the Second Coming of Christ, we are called to live holy and godly lives, staying watchful and ready for His return. We are to remain steadfast in prayer, persevere through trials with patience, and strengthen one another in love, knowing the day of the Lord draws near. In every season, we live faithfully so that when Christ appears, He will find His people awake, enduring, and joyfully devoted to Him.
~ After Jesus closes the age, He will create a new heaven and a new earth. This home of His own taste and design will be beautiful beyond our present understanding. And we will reign with Him forever and ever.
Significance
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Each of us is called and chosen to respond to His love. Each of us is commissioned to take this good news to the world.
We have the Spirit and Scriptures to guide, encourage, and correct us.
“Therefore… let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” (Heb. 12:1).
Thanks be to God—We win!

My friend, thank you for dedicating a month of your life to journeying through the Scriptures. My prayer is that the shelves we built together become a sacred doorway for a lifetime of deeper biblical study, wonder, and joy.
As we have seen, the Word is a Person—Jesus Himself, who was with God in the beginning and is with us now and forever!
Blessings and peace,
Susan
