21 Days of Prayer; a Devotion on Johnਨਮੂਨਾ

John 19 | The Garden of Golgotha
John 19 is the climax of the entire gospel - the trial, crucifixion, death, and burial of Jesus. You could spend a lifetime meditating on each and every single word in this chapter. The chapter reads like the end of the world, as if every little detail has been planned from the beginning of time from the very clothes that Jesus is wearing to each and every individual present. From a human perspective, Jesus is an unjustly accused victim of a sham trial at night. But from the eternal perspective, this is the plan birthed in the heart of the Trinity to save humanity and to launch a beautiful new creation. Prophecies are being fulfilled; there is a method to the madness. And the whole story ends at the beginning – “at the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb.” We’ve come full circle. Death entered the world in the garden of Eden; now death is defeated in the garden of Golgotha. The seed of sin was planted to curse the earth; the seed of salvation was laid in a tomb in the earth. And in just three days, the seed would sprout and change history forever. For Christians, this is the new beginning of time itself.
