You Are Not Forgotten
Scripture
Psalm 34:18 (NLT)
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”
Reflection
Loneliness and isolation can leave our hearts shattered and our spirits depleted. In 2023, the World Health Organization declared loneliness a global public health concern—an issue made worse by social media and intensified by the social distancing measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
But today, you’re not forgotten.
Whether grief, change, or loss has left you feeling unseen or unloved, take heart: God is close. His promise in Psalm 34:18 isn’t just poetic—it’s a lifeline. He sees you where you are. He draws near, offering comfort and rescue even when your spirit feels crushed. These aren’t mere words; they are promises rooted in divine truth.
You are never alone.
As someone who’s walked through profound loss—the death of a twin sister being one of the deepest pains imaginable—I’ve found Psalm 34:18 to be a daily anchor. Even four years later, the verse continues to bring comfort, reminding me that God’s presence never leaves, even when grief lingers.
Journaling Prompt
If journaling feels new or intimidating, begin with a simple act of honesty. Quiet your heart, grab a pen and paper, and invite Holy Spirit into your thoughts. Start with a prayer:
“Father God, Holy Spirit—help me open up with honesty. Show me healing, peace, and joy amidst this loneliness.”
If a verse or guiding thought comes to mind—whether inspired by the Spirit, a “feeling” chart of scriptures in your Bible, or a quick search like “loneliness scriptures”—let it surface. Jot it down. Read it slowly. Note what stirs in your heart—emotions, memories, hopes. Over time, journaling transforms from awkward to sacred—a private space where God meets you.
Prayer
Father, I pray that as this person reading these words, they feel Your nearness in their brokenness. Holy Spirit, teach them how to reach deeper into Father’s presence and find healing.
Declaration
(Speak this aloud or write it down)
“Even as I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil. For You, Father God, are with me—Your rod and Your staff comfort me. You are always close, ready to heal my crushed spirit.”
