Blessed Assurance – 2

We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.

We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. … Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. … So, we fix our eyes not on what is seen.

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. … This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. … This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. … This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world, we are like Jesus.

Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him. … Such confidence we have through Christ before God.

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

The fruit of righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever. … God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
