The Promise of Heaven by Dr. David Jeremiahਨਮੂਨਾ

God Is Not Boring
Here’s a word from King David on the subject of enjoying the presence of God: “You will show me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11).
What exists in God’s presence? Fullness of joy! Pleasures forevermore! When we’re with God, we are on the scene of endless explosions of absolute pleasure and joy. That’s what heaven will be like. That’s what heaven will always be.
Our God is the most exciting, adventuresome, creative Person you can imagine, multiplied a billion times over. And heaven will reflect His exuberance. We can’t begin to comprehend the excitement that belongs to the triune God with whom we’re going to spend eternity. He spoke the universe into existence. He made the elephant, the eagle, and the earthworm. He created a donkey that could speak, a fish that could swallow a man, and a flock of ravens that could feed a prophet.
God sweeps His hand across the sky, turning it into a crimson blaze of glory. He’s the One who can ignite volcanoes, send meteors hurtling through space, and zap the blackened skies with lightning bolts and thunderclaps.
He turned the Nile into blood and well-water into wine. He flung fire from heaven in response to Elijah’s prayers, answered Job out of the whirlwind, delivered Daniel from the lions’ den, and caused the sun and moon to stand still for Joshua.
Does any of that sound boring?
Randy Alcorn sums it up well:
Our belief that Heaven will be boring betrays a heresy—that God is boring. There’s no greater nonsense. Our desire for pleasure and the experience of joy come directly from God’s hand. He made our taste buds, adrenaline, sex drives, and the nerve endings that convey pleasure to our brains. Likewise, our imaginations and our capacity for joy and exhilaration were made by the very God we accuse of being boring. Are we so arrogant as to imagine that human beings came up with the idea of having fun?[i]
God is not boring. Neither is our Savior. And neither will heaven be!
Dear Father, thank you that heaven will not be boring because You are far from boring! Deepen my anticipation of the amazing life that awaits me, I pray. Amen.

About this Plan

Nobody likes being bored. Not at work. Not at home. Not anywhere. In our go-go-go culture, it seems like there’s never a good time to be bored. Many Christians believe heaven will be boring—that all we’ll be doing forever is strumming harps, floating on clouds, and polishing streets of gold. Thankfully, that’s not true! Let’s look at seven reasons why heaven will not, and could not, be boring.
