Love God Greatly - From Beginning to Forever: Tracing God’s Unchanging Loveਨਮੂਨਾ

Week 1 / Beginnings
Noah
Read: Genesis 6:11-14; Genesis 6:17-22; Genesis 8:1
SOAP: Genesis 8:1
"But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and domestic animals that were with him in the ark. God caused a wind to blow over the earth and the waters receded." (NET)
Into the Text
It didn’t take long for the sin that Adam and Eve brought into the world to completely corrupt everything. Rather than wiping out every single living creature, God would still keep His promise to send a Rescuer to make all things new.
In the midst of all the chaos and evil, God found one righteous man, Noah. He would preserve Noah, his family, and two of every living creature to be able to continue what He started in Genesis 1.
Noah obediently followed God’s command. He didn’t question whether or not building an ark in the middle of dry ground made sense or what his neighbors would think. Noah trusted God.
And God kept His promise. He did send rain for forty days, and the floodwaters rose for many more days until they had covered the whole earth. Imagine being stuck in cramped quarters with thousands of animals for over a year, smelling their smells, hearing the rain, and feeling the incessant rocking of the ark. I'm sure Noah was tempted to become impatient and even wonder if God had forgotten about him and his family.
Genesis 8:1 reminds us that God doesn’t forget. Just as God saved Noah and his family through the ark, He saves us through His Son, Jesus Christ. God doesn’t give up. He always comes through.
Prayer
God, thank you that you always keep your promises and always come through. Thank you that I have redemption and rescue through Jesus Christ and have hope for each day. Amen.
