HEALTHY FRIENDSHIPS - 7 DAY PLAN | DAY TWO | FIND YOUR TRIBE
How many of your friends are actually your tribe?
With social media these days, it’s so easy to have a lot of “friends”. It can be a great way of keeping up with what people are up to, especially those who are far away, but are you really connecting? And how many of them do you actually get together with face-to-face?
Highlight reels and a quick post or message here and there can actually be disconnected, connecting, and leave us feeling even more lonely than before.
That’s why finding our “tribe” and nurturing it is so important. A tribe is not hundreds of “friends,” it’s your inner circle. The faithful few who know the real you, who you can spill your guts to and not be judged, and who you can trust with a soft place to land, who encourage you and build you up, and who are honest with you in love, even if it means risking your popularity.
These are the friends that you would also do these things for.
In the Bible, Proverbs 17:17 ESV says: "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity."
Do the best you can to get together in person, there is something incredible that God does with physical presence that can’t be substituted.
Jesus is also your forever friend, but maybe you don’t have a tribe?... I’ve been there too, it’s a tough place...but pray for your tribe and watch who God sends you, you might be very surprised.
