Day 4–Declare that God is holy in your worship
Devotional
Too often, when looking at passages such as the one in Isaiah and thinking of holiness, you could think that you should view yourself as a worthless worm. However, whilst the holiness of God will challenge sin and apathy and lead you to repentance, there is something wonderfully incredible about God’s holiness. Isaiah recognises his sinfulness in the presence of God’s holiness, but he also quickly experiences the cleansing, forgiving touch of God. In today’s psalm, we see the encouragement to worship the Lord in the "splendour" or "beauty" of his holiness. When was the last time you thought of holiness as beautiful? In seeing how separate and perfect He is, He draws you to Himself, and you can adore Him. Yes, He is infinitely separate from humanity, but He is also infinitely loving, and so as you worship Him in the beauty of his holiness, you can allow Him to hold you close and wash you clean. In the midst of the thundering of God’s power, He blesses you with strength and peace (Psalms -29:11 NIV).
Prayer
Lord, You are holy. You are separate from all that You created, and You are incredible. Yet, You are also loving and forgiving. I thank You that as I look on Your holiness, I can bring all that is unholy in me to Your throne in repentance and faith, knowing that You will cleanse me and make me whole. Thank You, Lord. Amen.
Application
Spend some time reflecting on how perfect God is and bring your imperfections to Him, not as a worthless being, but as God’s son/daughter, loved and cherished. Receive His forgiveness and cleansing power. Finally, write down some of His perfections and then respond in worship.

About this Plan

"Deeper In Worship" is a 28-day plan designed to help you grow in your love for God through a fuller understanding of why and how we worship. Worship is for God alone; it is deeply spiritual, often physical, and a journey into encountering the presence of God. The plan includes a daily Psalm and a New Testament passage. It finishes with a short devotional, a prayer, and a suggested application.
