Psalms of Lament

DAY 9 OF 10

There is good news to hold onto when faced with the brutal reality of life’s fleeting nature. While life can change instantly, we serve an unchanging and reliable God (Hebrews 13:8). He remains constant from generation to generation and is the beginning and the end of everything. Though our time on earth is temporary and uncertain, we are promised the hope of eternity with God through a relationship with Christ.

When we can truly grasp the purpose of our time here, we can live out our heavenly calling with diligence and intentionality. Wisdom comes when we navigate this life with his kingdom in mind, walking in God's purpose. What do we have to fear besides the Lord? Each day, no matter what tribulations we face, we can find peace knowing our trials are temporary, but God’s reign is eternal.

Each morning, His mercies are new, and we can find satisfaction in that truth daily (Lamentations 3:22-23). He replaces our sorrow with joy and brings restoration to his children. We are wrapped in his salvation, not to mourn the cost of our sin every day, but to live in the freedom of his grace, singing joyfully for all he has done.

1. How does understanding the eternal reign of God help you when you face times of difficulty and uncertainty in life?

2. What are some practical ways to keep His kingdom in mind, intentionally and diligently, every day?

Prayer: Lord, I pray today to keep the eternity of your kingdom in mind in all that I do. May I rest in the peace of your eternal promise, following you daily, no matter my temporary circumstances.
