What a Man Looks Like

DAY 2 OF 7

A Worker with Purpose

Paul called Epaphroditus a fellow worker—a man who shared the burden of the mission and showed up to get his hands dirty. Real masculinity embraces this identity. From the beginning, God designed men to work, to cultivate, and to build. That calling wasn’t a curse; it was a gift.

Before sin ever entered the world, Adam was given a job. He was placed in the garden “to work it and keep it.” That tells us something about who we are. Work isn’t just what we do to pay the bills. It’s one of the ways we reflect the image of our Creator.

But sin distorts that calling. Some men make work their idol. Others run from it. We slide into laziness, distraction, or half-hearted effort. That kind of passivity is not just a personality trait—it’s unbiblical. God doesn’t call men to coast through life or treat every job like a burden. He calls us to labor with purpose.

Whether you’re in a trade, at a desk, in a classroom, or raising kids, your work matters; it’s part of your witness. People are watching how you show up, how you carry yourself, and how you push through the hard days. When you do your work with excellence, consistency, and integrity, it brings glory to God—even if no one else notices.

You don’t have to love your job to do it faithfully. You don’t have to have a “dream role” to make an eternal impact. What matters most is that you understand your work—whether paid or unpaid—is one way God uses you to bless others and build His kingdom.

Reflection:
What would it look like to treat your daily work as an act of worship? Are there any areas where you’ve been passive or aimless in how you show up?
