Disruptive Generosityਨਮੂਨਾ

Over the past few days, we’ve explored generosity as a way of life. You’ve seen how it’s at the heart of the biblical story. You’ve read real-life stories that inspire. And maybe, just maybe, you’ve even started having conversations with your family about the causes that set your hearts on fire.
Now it’s time to give shape to all of it.
Generosity doesn’t have to be random, reactive, or occasional. It can—and should—be intentional, structured, and ongoing. That’s why today, I want to invite you to create your own family generosity plan.
Deciding how much to give and where to give isn’t easy. In fact, it can be more complex than it seems. But I’m here to help, so here’s a simple but powerful step-by-step to get you started:
1. Identify Your Core Cause
What issue deeply moves your family’s heart? Where has God been stirring you? Start by choosing one or two priority areas to focus on.
2. Set Clear Criteria for Support
Here are some filters our family uses that may inspire you:
- Is the project missional—led by committed people with strong stewardship and a passion to impact lives for the Gospel?
- Does it align with your family’s top one or two causes?
- What stage is the project in—startup, survival, or growth? Can your support be a lifeline?
- Can you contribute more than money—perhaps your time, mentorship, or network?
3. Organize Your Resources
Together, set a fixed amount or a percentage of your monthly income for giving, both one-time and recurring. Even if it’s small right now, make a short-term, medium-term, and long-term plan.
And here’s a bold challenge: what if you set a finish line? A cap on your lifestyle. Once that ceiling is reached, everything above it goes to giving. This redefines what’s “enough” and transforms surplus into mission.
4. Create a Follow-Up Plan
Generosity doesn’t stop with the gift. Ask the projects you support: How are the funds being used? What’s changing? What stories are unfolding? This strengthens the relationship and keeps your passion alive.
It’s important to track results, not just church plants or conversion counts, but signs of long-term Kingdom impact. Are lives being transformed? Has the ripple effect grown? You might even consider visiting those impacted—a powerful family experience!
Also, many donors (including churches) stop giving abruptly and without warning. If you ever need to pause or redirect your giving, try to give at least three months’ notice to the organization. This simple act of consideration helps them plan ahead.
You can also define reasons to increase support for certain projects, or to stop giving altogether if alignment fades. That’s part of stewarding well.
5. Pray and Review Together
Surrender the plan to God. And revisit it regularly as a family. In our home, we do this every 12 months.
James 1:22 reminds us: “Do not merely listen to the word… Do what it says.” Generosity is one of the most powerful ways to put your faith into action.
You don’t need to have a lot to begin. You just need to decide.
Today could be the day your family begins writing a new story.
Let’s pray together:
Jesus, I surrender everything to You. May this generosity plan come straight from Your heart, so it can bless many other families and inspire a more generous future for our nation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
