The Gospel of Matthew

DAY 22 OF 30

The Joy of Serving

In a culture that often celebrates being served, Jesus flips the script. He reminds us that greatness in His kingdom looks like humility, not status. Too many today get more excited about luxury, comfort, or recognition than about meaningful moments of quiet service. But the heart of Christ beats differently.

In Matthew 20, we see that God doesn’t reward based on merit, but on grace. This grace not only saves us—it also shapes us. Jesus, the King of all, came not to be served but to serve. He healed the hurting, fed the hungry, and washed feet. That’s the model He invites us to follow.

Serving others in secret may not feel exciting or impressive. It won’t always come with applause or attention. But it reflects the very heart of Jesus. When we serve, we declare that life isn’t about us—it’s about loving others with the love we’ve received.

Don’t wait for a spotlight or stage. Look for small, quiet ways to care for someone today.

Respond to God’s Word:

Serve someone in secret today—without posting, announcing, or expecting anything in return. Do it out of love, and let your heart become more like His.
