Rest to Reset

DAY 5 OF 8

God's Masterpiece in the Sky

While reading Genesis 1 in one sitting can feel effortless, it is essential to pause and take in the profound measurements and actions God took to create a world just for us to live in. Every detail we see, live in, and build upon was intentionally crafted by Him. I imagine there is much more we do not know, and many of us are still seeking to understand even more. This brings to mind David, who is often called a man after God's heart.

In Psalm 8, David reflects on God's creation, acknowledging its beauty while expressing a sense of unworthiness for the honor bestowed upon him by God. David humbly acknowledges that he may not deserve such recognition in the grand scheme of all that God has made. We, too, may feel the same way when we experience nature.

As you engage with this devotional, I pray you find inspiration to recognize, appreciate, and celebrate God’s creations. I hope you also come to see yourself as one of His special creations if you do not already see yourself that way.

Consider this: God not only created the sky with lights for our enjoyment but also added stars that would later symbolize His promise to Abraham — that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky. God's work has many layers and still speaks through what He created.
