The Mustard Seed Principle

DAY 7 OF 7

Wait till God moves

We are a hurried people. Most of us suffer from hurried sickness, as someone said. God is never in a hurry. One of my friends always tells me that God is Almighty slow but always on time. Another friend once told me: Let us be honest – your most important gift is not patience.

For many years, I liked to think and dream in terms of hundreds, thousands, and millions. I cannot tell you how many plans I have made over the last 53 years since my conversion. And I can tell you that far less than one in ten bore fruit. Why? I couldn't wait for the Lord. I made lots of plans. I always wanted to start big and do big things.

So, lately, I only ask the Lord: "Father, give me one seed, preferably a mustard seed. A small one would be fine. I know I cannot handle big. And Lord, I am not going to look around for that seed. Will You please give it to me?" You see, I wanted to make it as difficult as possible for me to do my own thing. But somehow, He finds people and brings them to me. He opens the doors. Lo and behold: the work is going faster now!

The truth is that when God comes and starts to work, you will complain that you have too much work.

Too often, we are not ready for God to use us. Often, we are so full of ourselves that we contaminate everything we touch with our ungodly behaviour and desires.

So often, we hear people say, "I want to know God's will for my life!" May I suggest a prayer we must pray before that: "Lord, may I know You."

Do not pray for a big ministry, a huge impact, or doing big things in the kingdom of God. Rather, pray: “Father, how can I please You?” If big things flow from that, it is good - and it probably will.

There are numerous spiritual secrets about the mustard seed hidden in Jesus' parables. They teach patience and the importance of waiting, perseverance, how weakness overcomes the strong, and the need to use the faith that God gives us, irrespective of how small. They teach God's commitment to growth and our responsibility to water the seedlings.

About this Plan

The Mustard Seed Principle

In several situations, Jesus referred to the mustard seed. Faith is like a mustard seed, and the mustard seed is something small that will grow into "a big tree." This concept is fascinating, and it has changed my life and approach to my work and involvement in the kingdom of God. I know it will do the same for you.
