Enduring Work: Part III
Bezalel was a craftsman who modeled enduring work. In this series we’re discussing the different attributes that made Bezalel’s work long-lasting.
Bezalel’s second attribute is skill. God gave Bezalel unique skills in his area of expertise, craftsmanship.
God has blessed each of us with certain skills. Some are gifted at sales, others with finance, and some as craftsmen. Everyone is blessed with their own set of gifts which are as versatile as they are unique. Many skills can be used in several different capacities.
Enduring work can come from you exercising your God-given skillset, along with the help of God’s Spirit. The more you work within your God-Given capabilities the more you will succeed, as you will be working with your nature.
In Exodus 28:3, Moses was told, “You shall speak to all the skillful, whom I have filled with a spirit of skill, that they make Aaron's garments to consecrate him for my priesthood.” (ESV)
God has given each of us unique skills and inclinations. The catch is finding in what direction your natural abilities lie and cultivating corresponding gifts. Ask others to share your top three skills, then work at developing them wholeheartedly.
Questions For Reflection
- What skills do you need for your job? What skills have you developed since getting your job? What abilities have you found most useful in the workforce?
- How do you define craftmanship? What is craft in its most basic sense? What crafts do you possess?

About this Plan

Solomon’s story is a powerful reminder that even the wisest and most blessed among us can falter when our hearts drift from wholehearted devotion to God. Despite building the temple and experiencing God’s presence, Solomon allowed compromise and divided loyalties to take root, leading him away from the One who had given him everything. His journey calls us to examine our own lives, to guard against the subtle pull of lesser loves, and to seek a faith that endures—anchored in worship, obedience, and an undivided heart for God.
