Hebrews Part 2: Selfish Christianity

DAY 13 OF 18

Faith That Bears Fruit

Salvation isn’t earned—but what you do with it still matters. Too many people think meeting Jesus is the endgame, but the truth is, it’s just the starting line. God doesn’t just want believers—He wants builders. Faithfulness isn’t measured by feelings but by fruit. Jesus is clear: He’s coming back, and He’s bringing rewards with Him—not for intentions, but for action.

Salvation is a gift of God by pure grace—no one earns it. But that doesn’t mean everything is equal after that. Our eternal rewards are based on how faithfully we fulfill God’s calling in our lives. Jesus says in Matthew 16:27 (ESV), “For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.”

Colossians 3:23-24 (ESV) reminds us, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” And 2 Corinthians 5:10 (ESV) lays it out plainly: “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.”

That’s the heartbeat of Hebrews 6:7–8. The language of crops and fruit isn’t poetic fluff—it’s a warning and a wake-up call. God expects His people to produce—not just to sit there soaking up sun and rain, but to grow something useful. Simply put, the spiritual fruit of a faithful life is the evidence God looks for.

At the end of the day, your life is a field. God waters it, provides for it, and expects a harvest from it. Don’t settle for saved and stagnant.

Are you producing spiritual fruit, or just soaking up rain?
