The Gospel of John

DAY 14 OF 30

More Than Information—A Real Relationship

In John 7:25–53, we see that confusion surrounds Jesus. Some people think He might be the Christ, others question His origin, and still others want to arrest Him. Opinions are flying in every direction. Yet right in the middle of all that noise, Jesus stands up and offers something powerful and personal: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water’” (John 7:37–38, ESV).

Jesus wasn’t offering more debate, more theories, or more information. He was offering Himself. Which quenches our deepest thirst.

Before I had a relationship with God, I honestly thought Christianity was mostly about learning. My parents would take me to church, and I assumed they just really liked hearing about God. I didn’t know there was more. I thought knowing Jesus meant having information about His life and teachings. But I came to discover something life-changing—Jesus doesn’t just want us to learn about Him; He wants us to know Him personally.

When I truly met Jesus, something shifted. It wasn’t just head knowledge anymore—it was heart transformation. The thirst in my soul finally had a place to be satisfied. I began to understand what it meant to walk with Him, to be filled with His Spirit, and to experience peace and purpose beyond my own understanding.

Maybe you’re like I was—around church, familiar with the Bible, but unsure if you really know Jesus. Or maybe you’ve been following Him but feel spiritually dry. Hear Jesus’ invitation today: “If anyone thirsts…” That means you.

He wants to fill you afresh, not with more facts, but with His Spirit—His very presence in your life.

Respond to God’s Word

  1. Pray: Ask God to fill you with His Spirit today—freshly and fully.
  2. Reflect: What are you spiritually thirsty for? Peace, purpose, strength, guidance?
  3. Write it down: What you’re longing for and surrender it to Jesus.
  4. Worship: Play a worship song and let your heart draw near to God—not just to know about Him, but to know Him.

Let Jesus quench the thirst that nothing else can satisfy.
