Seeing With Your Earsਨਮੂਨਾ

The Fire Falls On A Prepared Altar
In the wilderness seasons of our lives, when sickness, exhaustion, and delay seem relentless, it is tempting to stop showing up for God. But Elijah shows us that faith does not stop at the promise — it builds an altar. The fire of God didn’t fall randomly; it fell on a prepared sacrifice. Elijah rebuilt the altar of the Lord, saturated it in water, and laid the sacrifice in obedience. Then — and only then — did the fire fall.
This teaches us a critical truth: God answers by fire when our altar is rightly prepared. The altar represents our heart, our daily posture before Him, and our lifestyle of worship, obedience, and sacrifice. Many are calling on God in desperation, but have neglected the altar. We must return to consistent prayer, Scripture meditation, and purity. In doing so, we don’t earn the fire — we make room for it.
We live in a time of many false gods, voices, and promises. But God is not one of many; He is the true God, and He wants to prove it — to you and through you. When the prophets of Baal danced and shouted in vain, Elijah stood firm on the Word. He didn't need gimmicks or noise; he needed a Word from God, and obedience to it.
You might feel like you’re pouring water on your dreams, like everything is getting worse while you wait on God. But that’s the moment when His fire will make it undeniable. The sacrifice soaked in obedience is never wasted. You may not feel like the Word is working, but as you stay in worship, Scripture, and faithful living, you are building a trench around your altar. Keep showing up. Keep preparing. He will come.
And when the fire falls, not only will it consume your offering — it will consume your doubt, your past, your brokenness. It will testify to everyone watching that your God is not just alive — He is the only God.
Reflection Questions:
- Is your altar (your heart and daily life) prepared for God’s fire, or are there distractions and idols taking up space?
- In what areas are you tempted to stop showing up for God? How can you return with faith?
- What specific promises from God are you holding onto in your current season?
Action Step:
Pull out your physical Bible and identify one promise God has given you. Write it down. Meditate on it morning and evening this week. Speak it aloud daily as a declaration over your life. Then ask the Holy Spirit to help you repair your altar — to remove distractions, renew your hunger, and restore your consistency.
