Living by Faith: 5 Lessons From the Book of Habakkuk a 5-Day Devotional by Dwan Dixonਨਮੂਨਾ

Lesson 4: Remembering God’s Work
Have you ever experienced being in the right place at the right time? I vividly remember a moment when this happened to me. After grocery shopping, I returned to my car only to find that it wouldn’t start. Thankfully, I had a battery charger on hand and quickly connected it to my car battery. I waited a few minutes and tried starting the car again—nothing. So, I called roadside assistance, only to learn it would be two hours before help arrived. Thankfully, the store was close enough to my home that I could walk back and wait in comfort. Looking back, I see nothing but God’s providential hand at work. He placed me in a situation where I was safe and close to home, a small but powerful reminder of His care.
God is always at work in our lives, even when we don’t immediately recognize it. It’s crucial to reflect on these moments and remember His faithfulness. In the third chapter of Habakkuk, the prophet recounts God’s mighty works in Israel’s history, using them as reminders of God’s character and power.
The greatest example of God’s work is creation itself. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth,” Genesis 1:1 (NLT). From nothing, God brought forth a world so intricate that we continue to marvel at its complexity. In Exodus, we see God’s hand in freeing the Israelites from slavery through ten plagues and the parting of the Red Sea. He allowed His people to walk on dry ground and later made the sun and moon stand still as Joshua fought the Amorites. Scripture is filled with accounts of God’s intervention in the lives of ordinary people, revealing His power, faithfulness, and love.
These Biblical accounts remind us that God’s works are not confined to the past. They are evidence of His greatness and faithfulness, giving us hope for today and tomorrow. The Bible serves as a guide, offering us hope rooted in God’s past acts and the promise of a glorious future. God has proven His faithfulness, and we can trust Him in every aspect of our lives.
Reflect
Can you recall a time when you clearly saw God working in your life? Which attribute of God gives you the most hope and why?
