Beyond the Hype: Finding Confidence in God's Promises

DAY 3 OF 3

DAY 3: WALKING "IN" RATHER THAN AROUND

Many of us spend our lives walking circles around “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight,” Proverbs 3:5-6 instead of walking "in" it. We understand the concept of trusting God intellectually, but practically, we still rely on our own understanding, our own "Hype," our own path.

The enemy wants nothing more than to keep us circling, to prevent us from experiencing the abundant life Jesus promised. He does this by convincing us that our accomplishments, our bank accounts, our social status, or the validation of others can provide the security and direction we seek. But Jesus came that we might have life abundantly - not just a life filled with achievements and accolades, but a life overflowing with purpose, peace, and the presence of God. This abundance comes not from walking around God's principles but from walking in them.

Walking "in" Proverbs 3:5-6 means making a daily decision to trust God over ourselves, to acknowledge Him in every aspect of our lives, and to believe that He will direct our paths. It means running to God first, not as a last resort or afterthought.

Question for Reflection:

In what areas of your life are you still walking around God's principles rather than in them?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I recognize the areas where I've been walking around your principles rather than in them. I confess that I've often trusted my own accomplishments and understanding more than your promises. Today, I choose to run to you first. I choose to trust you with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding. I choose to acknowledge you in all my ways, believing that you will make my paths straight. Thank you for the abundant life you've promised - not just a life of achievements, but a life filled with your presence and purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen.
