Behold the Lamb of Godਨਮੂਨਾ

Behold the Lamb of God

DAY 4 OF 6

Day 4

When we look at lambs in nature, we will see they follow their mothers around for the first couple of weeks of their lives until they become strong enough to find food for themselves. Lambs need the nutrition in their mother’s milk in order to become strong enough. This time in a lamb’s life is called weaning. During this time, the lamb’s body receives the necessary strength and nutrients to fight against diseases and internal parasites. After this time of weaning, the lamb will consume a lot of hay and grain to build strength in order to survive in nature.

Jesus gave us the ultimate example of how to wean on the Father. The only difference between Jesus and a physical lamb is that Jesus didn’t become self-dependent after a couple of weeks. He lived His whole life in complete surrender and dependence on the Father. In John chapter 8, Jesus made a bold but very clear statement that He does “nothing on His own, but just as the Father taught me, He says these things.” Then He goes on proclaiming that “The Father has never left me alone, because I always do what pleases Him.” Jesus goes on a couple of chapters later by stating that He does nothing of His own accord, but He only says what the Father told Him to say. This proves that Jesus lived a life of total surrender and dependency on God the Father. He didn’t leave His Father’s nutrition after a while, but He used His relationship with His Father as a catalyst for things to come.

At this point in the plan, we want to make a proposal. As believers in Jesus, we need to learn as much from Him as possible. Jesus lived His whole life fully pleasing His Father. One of the ways Jesus used to constantly check Himself with the instructions and standards of God is by spending time alone with Him. Our relationship with God should always be our foundation for everything that we do in life. When we receive the necessary nutrients in our secret place with God, we need to use that intimacy with God to draw closer to Him and become stronger in our faith. This is where we can learn from the life of a lamb; each day, we need to get nutrients from the Father. Those special things He knows we need. But the rest of the day, we shouldn’t abandon what we received, instead, we should feast on the grain, the bread of life, the Word of God, so we can grow spiritually and mature as followers of Christ.

I don’t know about you, but there have been a lot of good leaders in human history, but none surpasses the excellence, the sufficiency, the love, and the power of impact that the Lord Jesus had. And for that reason, I would rather follow the example of the One and only, begotten Lamb of God.

About this Plan

Behold the Lamb of God

Throughout Scripture and especially the New Testament, we find a lot of analogies being used to describe the character and the role of Jesus Christ towards us, as humanity. In this plan, we will look at the similarities between Jesus and a lamb and how and why we need to connect to Him as the Lamb of God. Another plan to read together with this one: "Behold the Lion of God"
