Find Your Way

DAY 2 OF 28

Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!

S: Scripture

If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.

O: Observation

Read Matthew 5:3–10 again.

  • How did Jesus call us to see our circumstances differently?
  • Were there any groups on the list that confused you or felt out of place?
  • How would you define "blessed" based on this passage?

A: Application

What's something you need help finding your way in this week?

How might a different perspective on your circumstances change how you approach challenges or discouragement?

What's a word or phrase from the passage you could put in a place where you'll see it often to help you remember that Jesus can help us see things differently.

P: Prayer

Spend some time in prayer, asking God to show you a mindset or opinion you hold of yourself that you need to view through the upside-down lens of the Bible. Invite God to help you see the blessings that might exist for you even in hardship. Then say thank you for Jesus' teachings that help us see ourselves and those around us differently.

About this Plan

Find Your Way

We sometimes hit moments where we’re not sure which way to go, what decision to make, or how to figure things out. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a map that could guide us through life—not just for directions, but for making choices, living life, and knowing God better? If you've ever been there, good news! The Bible is more than an old book—it’s a map that helps us find our way. For the next 28 days, we’ll discover how the Bible can guide us when we aren't sure what decisions to make or where to go.
