DAY 7 OF 7

Eternal life - the greatest hope

John is now an old man. He spent his youth with Jesus. For three years, he traveled through the country with him and saw miracles. He is there when the powerful nail Jesus to the cross. And he witnesses his resurrection.

Weeks later, he experiences how the Holy Spirit transforms a fearful troop into bold ambassadors. In the years that followed, one after the other died as martyrs.

Lonely and abandoned, he is now stuck on the island of Patmos. Until one day, he meets Jesus. He recognizes him immediately. His look, his voice, his appearance. The message he brings to John is not of this world. Jesus gives him an insight into what is yet to come. He takes him to a world where there is no suffering, no tears, no crying, no pain, and no death. A place of peace, full of life and joy. John writes everything down. Even the things he doesn't understand.

Some of this has already become reality for us 2000 years later. What he sees is true. Heaven is real. Hell too. There is eternal life. Either close to God or separated from him. John writes: "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life." It is your decision where you will spend eternity. Make it today.

Decide to live with Jesus in his New World. He is waiting for you there. The following prayer can help you put your decision into words.

Jesus, I come to you today. I have strengths and weaknesses. You know that. I have lived without you so far. Today, I have understood that I need you to spend an eternity with God. Please forgive me for going the wrong way alone. Thank you for loving me and paying for my guilt with your life. I believe in you. You are the way to God the Father. I give you my life today. Help me to better understand what it means to follow you. Thank you for accepting me. I want to change with your help. Amen.
