Risen With Christ: Embracing New Life With Jesusਨਮੂਨਾ

The Miracle of the Rolled-Away Stone: A Reflection on Mark 16:4
“When they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had already been rolled back.” — Mark 16:4
The resurrection of Jesus is the defining moment of our faith, and at the heart of this moment is the image of the rolled-away stone. For those who loved Jesus, the sight of the empty tomb must have been overwhelming—filling them with both fear and wonder. The women who came early that morning did not expect resurrection; they expected to anoint the body of their beloved teacher. Instead, they found the impossible—Jesus had triumphed over death.
The Weight of the Stone
The women on their way to the tomb worried about how they would move the massive stone that had been placed in front of the entrance. It was too heavy for them to move alone, sealing in their sorrow and finalizing their loss. The stone was a physical reminder of the weight of grief, the finality of death, and the impossibility of change.
How often do we carry stones of our own? Burdens of fear, regret, or hopelessness can feel immovable, trapping us in places of despair. Like the women, we sometimes walk toward situations thinking that there is no way forward, that the obstacles are too great. But God specializes in moving what we cannot.
The Power of God
When the women arrived, they looked up and saw that the stone had already been rolled away. What they could not do, God had already done. This is the power of the resurrection—not only is Jesus alive, but the barriers that once seemed permanent are removed. The stone was rolled away not so Jesus could leave—He had already conquered death—but so that they could see and believe.
God continues to roll away stones in our lives. The very things that seem to hold us back—sin, fear, brokenness—are no match for God’s power. The resurrection reminds us that nothing is impossible with God, that the obstacles we dread most are already being moved by His hand.
The Invitation to Believe
The empty tomb was not just a miracle to be observed; it was an invitation to believe. The women stood at the entrance, faced with a choice: would they trust what their eyes saw and what their hearts longed for? Would they accept the reality that Jesus had risen?
We stand at similar crossroads in our faith. We hear the good news of the resurrection, but do we fully embrace it? Do we live as people who believe in the power of Christ over every hardship? Easter calls us to step forward, to leave behind the fear that kept us mourning at the tomb, and to walk into the life Jesus has opened for us.
Walking into the New
When the women left the tomb, they were changed. Though fear still gripped them, the truth of what they had seen was undeniable. In time, they would become witnesses, sharing the incredible news that Jesus was alive.
Like them, we are called to walk into the newness of life. The stone has been rolled away, and nothing is as it was before. Christ is victorious, and in Him, we have the promise of transformation. Let us walk forward in faith, embracing the risen Savior and the new life He offers.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for rolling away the stones in our lives. Help us to trust in Your power, to believe in Your resurrection, and to step into the new life You have prepared for us. May we live as people transformed by the empty tomb, filled with faith and hope. Amen.
