The Shepherd and the Sheepਨਮੂਨਾ

Day 3) Provision
Three Places Where God Provides
1) At The Table
Not only does God provide, but He can do so “in the presence of [your] enemies.” What does this teach us about God’s character? There are many layers to this statement, but it’s evident that God can give us what we need to navigate broken relationships. Do you have friends or family who have turned into enemies? God can help you navigate those dynamics as you trust in Him.
2) Through The Oil
In David’s era, the act of anointing someone’s head with oil could serve multiple purposes. Sometimes it was a statement of blessing, while other times it was to set the recipient apart for a specific task. No matter the scenario, one idea remained consistent: the act of anointing was a way of asking God to strengthen and empower the recipient. As Christians, we are anointed with the Holy Spirit the moment we place our faith in Jesus (1 John 2:20). No matter where we go, the Spirit will help us fulfill our purpose!
3) In Your Cup
Our “cup” represents the life God has given us—complete with both dark valleys and green pastures. In addition to the relationships around the table and God’s Spirit within us, He promises to provide more than we could ever ask for in everyday moments, so much so that our lives will “overflow.” It may not always come in the form we expect, but it will always be what’s best for the fulfillment of His plan.
Big Idea: God’s provision is not limited by our circumstances—He provides for us in the midst of our struggles, empowers us through the Holy Spirit and fills our lives with overflowing blessings. Whether in broken relationships, through divine empowerment, or in our daily lives, God’s provision meets our deepest needs and leads us toward His perfect plan.
Let’s Think About This:
Question 1) Is there a relationship in your life where you need God’s help to navigate? Without embarrassing the other person by sharing too much, how would you describe the struggle, and what would progress look like?
Question 2) What does the Holy Spirit mean to you? Can you recall a time when He helped you through a difficult situation?
Question 3) What are some ways that God has filled your cup? What are some things He has done that you are grateful for?

About this Plan

Do you find yourself running but getting nowhere—striving with little to show for it? For thousands of years, multitudes of people just like you have found comfort in the beautiful words God spoke through David in Psalm 23. As a young shepherd who would grow up to slay an unbeatable giant, run from a king who wanted him dead, become king himself and sin so grievously that he murdered to cover it up, David knows a thing or two about trusting God, even when it’s hard. As we’ll discover, rest for our souls comes through surrender, not striving!
