SIMPLE: Returning to the Essence of Easterਨਮੂਨਾ

The Resurrection: Connection to Christ’s Identity
A few years ago, I never imagined I would be writing about the importance of the resurrection and how deeply significant it is to my life as a Christian. When I first heard about Jesus, it sounded like a Christmas story. Then I heard He was the Son of God who could forgive my sins. I also heard that He loved me and would give His life for me. They told me Jesus died so that I could have eternal life. But He died... and then what? He rose again!
The resurrection changed everything for me. I realized my faith wasn’t based on tradition or religious rituals—my faith is placed in Christ. There is plenty of evidence that can prove Christ’s resurrection as a historical fact. I like what Josh McDowell wrote in his book Evidence That Demands a Verdict: “The resurrection of Jesus Christ and Christianity stand or fall together.” However, it is Christ Himself who provided evidence of the resurrection miracle and made it very clear who He was when He told Thomas, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6). What’s most amazing is that He didn’t just die for you and me—He also gave us the privilege of becoming children of God (John 1:12–13). He gave us an identity.
Your true identity in Christ is not based on what you have or what you do—it is based on who you are. Now you are a child of God, and that is final. No one can take away what God has already given you, and there is nothing you can do to make God love you more or less, because His unconditional love doesn’t depend on you. Nothing and no one can separate you from God’s love (Romans 8:38–39). Christ came, died, and rose again; you simply have to accept this wonderful gift of eternal life. Christ looks at you through His grace.
Prayer: Beloved Father, thank You for Your infinite love. Thank You for giving me a new identity that helps me understand Your good, pleasing, and perfect will. You have given me the gift of salvation and made me Your child. May Your Holy Spirit continue to transform my mind, my heart, and my character in Christ Jesus, Amen.
