Acts - Until Everyone Knows

DAY 4 OF 28

Acts 4

The Sadducees (wealthy Jewish priests), who were the leaders of the Sanhedrin (Jewish court), arrested Peter and John and put them on trial. During the trial, Peter and John spoke with boldness and authority and testified about the healing of the lame beggar (vs. 9-10). The Sanhedrin took note that these men had been with Jesus (v. 13). What was noteworthy about the apostles was not their education or stature, but who their lives pointed towards!

It is easy to feel unimpressive and aware of your own failings, so you write yourself off. What you may be failing to see is that in your lack, there is an incredible opportunity for the Power of God to be revealed, which points people towards Jesus. God would later reveal to the Apostle Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Whether you feel on top of your game or struggling through life, ask for the Holy Spirit to work through you so that people will be drawn to Jesus.

Lord Jesus, when I live in the Power of Your Spirit - sharing boldly, loving generously, and forgiving freely, I can point people back to You. Help me to live in a way that might lead people to say, ‘"they have surely been with Jesus.’" Amen.

About this Plan

Acts - Until Everyone Knows

In Acts, we read about the Early Church taking its first steps to go out to the nations. This happened because ordinary people were filled with the Holy Spirit, enabling them to share the Good News of Jesus and bring healing and freedom. God has designed you to walk in the same Power today! As you learn from this Book, one chapter a day, and read the Devotional, consider this question: How can I step out more to share the Good News of Jesus in the Power of the Holy Spirit?
