The Danger of Seeking Jesusਨਮੂਨਾ

The Danger of Seeking Jesus

DAY 1 OF 5

I loved nighttime when I was a kid. Going over to a friend's house, staying up late, and doing things I wasn't usually allowed to do at home was a magical time!

As I got older and could drive, nighttime became prime time for pranks with my friends. We were known for toilet-papering houses and filling people's yards with plastic pink flamingos. For us, nighttime was full of adventure and mischief.

But as I've grown into adulthood, nighttime looks different. When my head hits the pillow, I battle insecurity and self-doubt. I've been plagued by panic attacks or anxiety in the darkness. Nighttime is when temptation feels strongest, and my thoughts race uncontrollably. Perhaps you can relate—nighttime isn't the carefree adventure it once was.

I bring this up because this Plan examines a conversation at night. People tend to be more open after dark, don't they? Think about deep conversations during late-night road trips or around a campfire that would never have happened in broad daylight. Today, we'll meet Nicodemus, who had a nighttime meeting with Jesus that would rock his world.

The main idea of this Plan is simple: seeking Jesus is riskier than we realize.

If you're exploring who Jesus is and what He means for your life or perhaps seeking a closer relationship with Him, I must warn you—it may be riskier than you think. Why? Because Jesus's primary concern is never your comfort. He often seeks to bring change that takes us well beyond our comfort zones.

Nicodemus approached Jesus as a religious expert, seeking to understand interesting new teachings. He didn't expect Jesus to challenge his entire understanding of Salvation and view of the world.

Jesus didn't come to make minor adjustments to our lives or to add religious activities to our routines. He came to transform us entirely, making us brand-new people.

Yet, we often approach Jesus wanting His Blessings, Solutions, or Teachings—but we don't want Him to disrupt our comfort or challenge our deeply held beliefs. We want the Gifts without the Transformation.

Tomorrow, we'll look more closely at how Jesus challenged Nicodemus's entire religious paradigm with an invitation to something far more radical than religious observance.

Are you willing to seek Jesus, knowing He might turn your world upside down? That's the risk—and the promise—of truly encountering Him.

About this Plan

The Danger of Seeking Jesus

What if approaching Jesus is far riskier than you imagined? When Nicodemus met Jesus at night, he expected answers but found his entire world challenged. Like him, we often want Jesus's Gifts without the upheaval He brings. This five-day Plan exposes the hidden danger in our spiritual pursuits—how what we seek from God can keep us from what matters most to Him. Are you prepared for the risk of genuinely encountering Jesus?
