Made for Mondays: A 7-Day Devotional to Bring Purpose Into Your Daily Grindਨਮੂਨਾ

Take God to Work
Have you ever paused to think about why you work? Whether it’s clocking in at a job, studying for an exam, managing a household, or running a business, we often think of our work as being for someone else— we do it for our boss, our teacher, our family, or sometimes even for ourselves. But Colossians 3:23 reminds us of a deeper truth: Whatever we do, we do it for God. That changes everything, doesn’t it?
Your work is not just from God but is ultimately for God. When you approach each task—no matter how mundane or challenging—with the mindset that you’re working for the Lord, your perspective shifts. Your Monday morning is no longer about pleasing a boss, meeting a deadline, or just getting through the day. It’s about honoring God with your effort, your attitude, and your heart.
When your work becomes an act of worship, it changes your perspective. Same office, different focus. Same company, different commitment. Same Monday, but a renewed motivation. Why? Because all of life is sacred.
Too often, we divide life into the “sacred” and the “secular.” We think of reading our Bibles, praying, or attending church as holy, sacred activities, and we view paying bills, chores, or going to work as secular tasks. But here’s the truth—there is no place on this planet where God cannot work. And there is no moment when you’re without Him.
Yet, many of us unknowingly live like "Monday morning atheists." An atheist is someone who doesn’t believe in God or lives as though He doesn’t exist. A Monday morning atheist is a believer who praises God on Sunday but forgets to include Him on Monday. We might not intentionally exclude God from our work, but are we inviting Him into it?
Think about how much time you spend at work, school, or managing your household—likely more than anywhere else except for sleeping. Why would we exclude God from that space? When we do, we miss out on His life-giving joy, strength, and purpose. Perhaps the exhaustion we feel isn’t just from the workload but from trying to tackle it without God.
What would happen if we started treating every day as "Take God to Work Day"? Imagine bringing Him into your meetings, your emails, your deadlines, or even your house chores. Invite Him into the moments that feel the most ordinary, and watch how He transforms them into something extraordinary.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you that my work, no matter how small or insignificant it feels, is ultimately for you. Help me to approach each task with a heart full of purpose and gratitude, knowing that my work is a gift from you. Forgive me for the times I’ve left you out of my work, and teach me to see every moment as sacred. In Jesus’ name, amen.
