An “Even Though” Kind of Faith: How to Trust God in Uncertain Times

DAY 3 OF 3

“Oh you of little faith" – words that Jesus said to His disciples multiple times (Matthew 6:30, 8:26, 14:31) as He corrected and rebuked them during His time of active ministry. Yet, whenever I read these words, I can’t help but examine and reflect on my own walk of faith, knowing that He has certainly spoken those same words to me before.

If you've been walking with God for any length of time, you've likely felt that same gentle conviction, recognizing those moments when your faith feels small and insufficient for the challenges you're facing.

But here's what God revealed to me: just as Abraham's faith grew stronger through his "even though" moments, we have the opportunity to grow from people of little faith to people of great faith. It requires a shift in how we think about and respond to challenges. Instead of seeing difficulties as faith-destroyers, we can view them as faith-developers.

Remember how Abraham "never wavered in believing God's promise"? The text tells us he was "fully convinced that God was able to do whatever he promised" (Romans 4:21). This wasn't just a nice spiritual thought – it was a deliberate choice to believe despite every circumstance suggesting otherwise.

Today, I want to invite you to make the same choice I'm making: to shift how we respond to unexpected circumstances and difficulties. Instead of letting these moments diminish our faith, let's use them as opportunities to grow stronger. When those challenging situations arise, we can declare, "This is an 'even though' moment, and I choose to let my faith grow stronger."

This isn't just positive thinking – it's biblical thinking. It's choosing to follow Abraham's example of being "fully convinced" of God's ability and faithfulness. It's moving from maintaining seed-sized faith to cultivating garden-giant faith that can weather any storm.

Remember, your faith journey isn't about staying where you are – it's about growing into all that God has called you to be. And here's the beautiful truth I always want you to remember: God can always do more with your willingness than He could ever do with your worthiness.

Final Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of faith. Help us to see our challenging moments as opportunities for growth rather than reasons for doubt. Give us the courage to believe beyond our circumstances, to let our faith grow from seed to tree, bringing You glory in every "even though" moment. In Jesus' name, Amen.
