UNDERSTANDING THE SPIRIT MAN

The Bible clearly shows that man is a tripartite being. You are a spirit, have a soul, and live in a physical body. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 states, “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” This divine order emphasizes the spirit as the most significant part of our being, connecting directly with God.

Your spirit man is the real you, which came alive by the Holy Spirit at salvation. Jesus said, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (John 3:6). Understanding the distinction and function of your spirit helps you live victoriously. Your spirit man connects you directly to God.

The health and strength of your spirit man determine your spiritual effectiveness. Just as the physical body requires nourishment, your spirit also needs daily nourishment from God’s Word, prayer, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. When your spirit man is strong, you can overcome temptations, hear clearly from God, and influence your world positively. Prepare your heart to nurture your inner man and walk in the fullness of God’s power daily.
