Revive Us, Lord: A 40-Day Journey Through the Gospel of Johnਨਮੂਨਾ

Authority from Heaven
Summary
- As the Feast of Booths (Sukkot) approached, Jesus’ brothers sarcastically urged Him to go to Jerusalem and display His miraculous works publicly.
- However, Jesus delayed his trip as He operated on divine timing, not on human expectations.
- At the Temple, Jesus taught with authority, astonishing the crowd. Some marvelled at His wisdom, while others questioned His credentials.
- Jesus boldly declared that His teaching came directly from God, challenging them to discern His true authority.
- He then foretold His departure, leaving many of His listeners confused about His origins and destiny.
Reflect
1. Why do you think many people struggled to recognise Jesus' authority? What does this reveal about human expectations versus God's ways?
2. Are there areas in your life where you resist or question God’s authority? How can you trust Him more fully in those areas (Proverbs 3:5-6)?

Closing Prayer
Spend time asking God to deepen your understanding of His timing and provision in your life. Pray for a heart that trusts His ways and boldly follows His leading, even when it challenges your human expectations.

About this Plan

For the next 40 days, we’ll journey through the Gospel of John, exploring his first-hand account of Jesus’ life. John gives us a glimpse of what it was like to be with Jesus, revealing who He is and how He reflects the very nature of God. Throughout the Gospel, Jesus makes bold claims about Himself, not just for people then but for us today. He calls for a response—one that will shape our lives, destiny, and eternal reward. Will we truly believe in Him? Will we follow Him as our Master and Lord to the very end?
