SERVE WITH KINDNESS
Have you ever read a Bible verse that was simple to understand but difficult to live out? Ephesians 4:32 is one of those verses:
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
It seems straightforward—be nice, forgive—but putting it into practice is a challenge.
The verse begins with the word “instead,” which points back to verse 31:
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, along with all types of evil behavior.”
Notice there are no exceptions. It doesn’t say to forgive only if someone apologizes or deserves it. The command is clear: get rid of all harmful behaviors.
Why is this so important? Think about it—don’t we all want others to treat us with grace? When we mess up, forget something, or say the wrong thing, we hope for kindness, not anger or harsh words. God calls us to extend that same grace to others.
The key is our ability to forgive comes from accepting God’s forgiveness. Through Jesus, God forgives all our sins—past, present, and future. Forgiveness is a gift, but like any gift, it must be received. Have you fully accepted the forgiveness God offers? Are you living out of that forgiveness?
As you reflect today, ask yourself: How do I treat others? Are my words and actions kind, or are they filled with anger and bitterness? Am I struggling with forgiveness? If so, have I embraced the forgiveness Jesus offers?
Forgiveness flows from understanding our need for grace and recognizing the depth of God’s mercy. If you’re struggling, talk to Jesus—He’s with you. Reach out to a trusted friend or pastor for support. Let us grow together in kindness and grace.
