Faith in Christ is both the foundation and the most challenging aspect of our obedience as sinners seeking salvation. When, by God’s grace, we learn to live a life of faith in Jesus, this faith produces holy character and acceptable service to God. Just as God provided manna from heaven to sustain Israel’s physical lives, He now offers Christ, the true Bread from heaven, to nourish and save our souls.

Coming to Jesus and believing in Him are inseparable acts. Christ is the true Bread, essential for spiritual life as bread is for physical sustenance. Unlike earthly bread, which depends on a living body to nourish, Christ is living Bread, sustaining believers by His divine power. His sacrificial death—Christ crucified—continues to strengthen and comfort believers as it always has.

The "Bread of Heaven" also signifies Christ's divinity, authority, and the divine origin of all blessings that flow to us through Him. His coming down from heaven assures us of God’s love and provision for our spiritual needs. In Christ, we find not only salvation but ongoing sustenance for our faith. With understanding and fervor, we can rightly pray, "Lord, evermore give us this Bread."
