Day 3 • Summary • Genesis 29–40
After obtaining his brother’s birthright and blessing earlier, Jacob flees to his relatives in the north and returns 20 years later with two wives and 11 sons, and great wealth. Along the way, he wrestles with God, who changes his name to Israel. Jacob’s favorite son, Joseph, is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and transported to Egypt. There, his personal integrity brings favor in both Potiphar’s house and the royal prison.
