Down to Earth: A Christmas Devotional Journeyਨਮੂਨਾ

Day 15: A Day To Anticipate And Celebrate
Reflection
So far, we’ve reflected on our down-to-earth Savior and The Rescue He offers all people. Now, in the third week of our Advent devotionals, we’re going to think about the unlikely invitation we receive as His followers – to join in the redemption of all things.
How do you react when you receive good news? Did you scream for joy when you secured tickets to Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour? Burst into tears when your sister got engaged? Shout out loud when your boss emailed to say you’d got a promotion?
In today’s passage, the prophet Isaiah looks forward to a day when God will be "amongst" His people, when He will "become their Salvation". Jesus’ Birth in Bethlehem marked the pivotal down-to-earth moment in the fulfillment of this Promise. It’s the Greatest News of all time, and so we're to "shout aloud and sing for joy".
What’s more, we’re to "let this be known to all the world" because Jesus, our down-to-earth King, rules every square inch of the globe. This doesn’t mean we need to buy a megaphone, stash up air miles, and personally visit every country to preach the Gospel. For most of us and on most days, it’s an invitation to play an active role in sharing the Good News of Jesus’ Birth with the people He’s placed alongside us.
So, when chatting with neighbors over mince pies or out with colleagues at the Christmas party, don’t shy away from conversations about why this season is life-changing for you. These are wonderful opportunities to share how you’ll be celebrating Jesus, your down-to-earth King, over the next few weeks.
Prayer
Jesus, Your Birth gives me reason to shout and sing for joy. Please help me share this joy with my friends, family, and colleagues this Christmas. Amen.
