Topic: Worship
What does it say?
In light of God’s mercy and kindness, believers are called to dedicate their entire lives to God in worshipful obedience.
What does it mean?
In view of the fullness of the Gospel, which Paul has gone to great lengths to unpack in the previous eleven chapters, we are called to offer ourselves to God in total surrender and dedication. We who are alive in Christ are now called to be living sacrifices. All of life is to be lived as an act of worship. This is the only appropriate response to the mercy God has poured out on us through Christ. As we turn from the things of the world and fill our minds with the fullness of the Gospel, we will be able to discern and obey his good, pleasing, and perfect will.
How should I respond?
This passage is a call to humbly offer God all that we are as an act of worship. Is there any part of your life that you have not fully surrendered to him? Is there anything keeping you from giving God your money or your time? Where are you letting the world influence your thinking and behavior? How can you start to give God more of your attention and affection?
