 <div class="label">73</div><div class="d">A Psalm of Asaph.</div><div class="q1"> 1Truly God is good to Israel,</div><div class="q2"> Even to such as are of a clean heart.</div><div class="q1"> 2But as for me, my feet were almost gone;</div><div class="q2">My steps had well nigh slipped.</div><div class="q1"> 3For I was envious at the foolish,</div><div class="q2"> When I saw the prosperity of the wicked.</div><div class="q1"> 4For there are no bands in their death:</div><div class="q2">But their strength is firm.</div><div class="q1"> 5They are not in trouble as other men;</div><div class="q2">Neither are they plagued like other men.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="q1"> 6Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain;</div><div class="q2">Violence covereth them as a garment.</div><div class="q1"> 7Their eyes stand out with fatness:</div><div class="q2">They have more than heart could wish.</div><div class="q1"> 8They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression:</div><div class="q2">They speak loftily.</div><div class="q1"> 9They set their mouth against the heavens,</div><div class="q2">And their tongue walketh through the earth.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="q1"> 10Therefore his people return hither:</div><div class="q2">And waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="q1"> 11And they say, How doth God know?</div><div class="q2">And is there knowledge in the most High?</div><div class="q1"> 12Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.</div><div class="q2"> 13Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.</div><div class="q1"> 14For all the day long have I been plagued,</div><div class="q2">And chastened every morning.</div><div class="q1"> 15If I say, I will speak thus;</div><div class="q2">Behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="q1"> 16When I thought to know this,</div><div class="q2">It was too painful for me;</div><div class="q1"> 17Until I went into the sanctuary of God;</div><div class="q2"> Then understood I their end.</div><div class="q1"> 18Surely thou didst set them in slippery places:</div><div class="q2">Thou castedst them down into destruction.</div><div class="q1"> 19How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment!</div><div class="q2">They are utterly consumed with terrors.</div><div class="q1"> 20As a dream when one awaketh;</div><div class="q2"> So, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.</div><div class="b"></div><div class="q1"> 21Thus my heart was grieved,</div><div class="q2">And I was pricked in my reins.</div><div class="q1"> 22So foolish was I, and ignorant:</div><div class="q2">I was as a beast before thee.</div><div class="q1"> 23Nevertheless I am continually with thee:</div><div class="q2">Thou hast holden me by my right hand.</div><div class="q1"> 24Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel,</div><div class="q2">And afterward receive me to glory.</div><div class="q1"> 25Whom have I in heaven but thee?</div><div class="q2">And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.</div><div class="q1"> 26My flesh and my heart faileth:</div><div class="q2"> But God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.</div><div class="q1"> 27For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish:</div><div class="q2">Thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.</div><div class="q1"> 28But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD,</div><div class="q2">That I may declare all thy works.</div><div class="b"></div>

 <div class="p">1And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. 2And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! 3And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt?</div><div class="p"> 4And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt. 5Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel. 6And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes: 7and they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. 8If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. 9Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not. 10But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.</div><div class="p"> 11And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them? 12I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.</div><div class="s2">Moses' Intercession</div><div class="p"> 13And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;) 14and they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night. 15Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying, 16Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness. 17And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my LORD be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying, 18The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. 19Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.</div><div class="s2">God's Judgement</div><div class="p"> 20And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word: 21but as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD. 22Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; 23surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: 24but my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it. 25(Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.)  <div class="label">2</div><div class="s2">The Household of God</div><div class="p"> 1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7that in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9not of works, lest any man should boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.</div><div class="p"> 11Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; 12that at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: 13but now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16and that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17and came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. 18For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 20and are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22in whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.</div>
