The Man Minuteਨਮੂਨਾ

IDENTITY
It's the thing that defines who you are, the answer you give to let others know who you are. When you meet someone for the first time, one of the first things you are asked is, “What do you do?” We men tend to get a major part of our sense of self-worth from what we do for a living. Our careers define us—or at least where our careers take us defines us. So we put in long hours and work with relentless pursuit. And for what? The CEO of a Fortune 500 company and a homeless beggar on the street have something in common—namely, they both have a date with death. And on that day, both men will stand naked before God. Who do you think really wins on that day—the CEO because he had a liquid net worth and lived large, or the beggar because he made it through life with nothing and took nothing with him when he left this earth? I wouldn’t want to be a beggar, but I wouldn’t want to be the CEO of a Fortune 500 company, either. Having a great work ethic is admirable, but obsession with your career is not. There is one thing I do know that I do not want, and that’s to work my life away only to realize in the end that I neglected life itself and the people around me. My identity comes from having the power of the Holy God residing in me. Paul says that “Christ in you” is the hope of glory. If I gain my sense of self from that, then eternal paradise is my destiny.
