Question: How do you feel about birthdays? Maybe you’re the person who goes all out. You don’t just have one day of celebration—you have weeks of it. You practically have a birthday month! Or maybe you’re the person who loves celebrating others. You’re not big on being the center of attention for your birthday, but you love making a big deal out of others. Or maybe you’re the one who avoids it totally. The idea of again, getting older, and hitting more milestones just isn’t all that fun or exciting to you.
Regardless of how you feel about your earthly birthday, the truth is you have something to celebrate all year round. What is that? The birth of your salvation in Christ. You were born into this world as a child of God, and that’s an identity no one can take away. That’s an identity worth celebrating!
This week, make a point to celebrate your identity. Maybe it’s your earthly birthday, the date of your salvation, or the simple fact that you have an identity as a child of God. Whatever it is, choose to celebrate the fact that you know who you are and can root yourself in that truth. There’s nothing worth celebrating more than that!

About this Plan

Like a plant, our root system—our identity—is vitally important to our health. It’s how you see yourself in light of God, others, and the world. It’s what holds you when life changes, threatens, or causes you to question what’s true about you! We’ll look at how a healthy identity rooted in who God is will keep us strong, vibrant, and grounded no matter what comes our way.
