WEEK 2, DAY 7—I AM SPIRIT-FILLED
To live the life that God has created you to live and to fulfil his calling, you can’t do it by relying on your own strength; you need the Holy Spirit. To be filled and led by the Spirit means that we receive guidance and direction for our lives. It also means that we are empowered to do things we can’t do on our own.
The Holy Spirit is like a sports coach—giving guidance, encouragement, and correction that helps you become a better player! You might not even be aware of it, but the Holy Spirit is constantly speaking to you. In our everyday lives, the Holy Spirit speaks to us and guides us so that we can live a life where we are becoming more and more like Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is also like an encouraging friend giving strength and support when you need it. The Bible says in Romans 8 that the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. When you feel overwhelmed by life and you just need strength to keep going, the Holy Spirit is there to help. Having the Holy Spirit living inside you means that you never have to face anything on your own.
The Holy Spirit also gives you POWER! When you have the Holy Spirit within you, you have the power of God on your side. By relying on the power of the Holy Spirit, you can do things you would never be able to do in your own strength.
