Overcoming Anxietyਨਮੂਨਾ

I was sitting down to write this, and I was staring at the blinking cursor on the brink of panic. I was having anxiety over writing a devotional about overcoming anxiety. Ironic, right? I took a break from my panic to swap out the laundry, and the Holy Spirit just kind of nudged me. In that moment, I remembered: I’m not alone, and I have access to a solution! So, I prayed to the Lord for His peace and blessing, and sure enough, you’re reading this!
That’s the thing about anxiety though: sometimes it’s loud and obnoxious and it keeps us trapped in our beds or stuck in our cars, and sometimes it quietly sneaks up on us and holds us hostage to our own mind and fears. There’s no “one-size-fits-all” way that we experience anxiety, but there are a few things we all have in common no matter what our anxiety looks and feels like:
- We don’t want to feel anxious, afraid, and stuck.
- Our anxiety keeps us from doing the things God calls us to do.
- We have access to freedom!
Here’s what I won’t do through this Bible plan: I won’t tell you to get over it or give you “three easy steps” that minimize you and your feelings to a check list. However, I do fully intend to call you to better and to ask you to embrace freedom that can be found in and through Jesus. It’s great news and it’s hard work, but I know you have what it takes! So press in to the truth of God’s Word and overcome anxiety with me.
