Weird Ideas: Holy Churchਨਮੂਨਾ

Holiness is an aspiration as well as a status. Back to 1 Corinthians 1:2 – “To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people.” Did you catch that? God both declares them holy and then invites them to become holy.
The Church is not only designated as holy, it’s called to be holy too. That’s because each and every Christian who is designated as holy is also called to live up to that holiness standard. It’s as though God is saying we are a work in progress. He’s given us a status. Now it’s time to grow into our shoes.
The Church isn’t just holy. It’s also striving for holiness. The Bible is filled with examples of this. Today, read some passages on God’s call to holiness. Ask yourself how you can live according to the holy status God has put upon you.
