Day 27: Finding Joy in Patience
In today’s fast-paced world, patience can be a rare commodity. Yet, it’s listed as one of the Fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23, right alongside Joy. In fact, these virtues often go hand in hand. Patience provides us with the time and space we need for Joy to take root and grow in our lives.
Being patient doesn’t mean merely waiting; it means waiting with an attitude of hopeful expectation. It’s an active, anticipatory waiting that believes something good is on the horizon, even if it’s not yet visible. This kind of patience isn’t a burden; it’s a Joy because it comes from a place of trust in God’s Timing and Providence.
Whether we’re waiting for an answer to prayer, for a difficult season to pass, or for a dream to be fulfilled, patience allows us to savor the Joy that is already present in our lives, even as we look forward to what’s to come.
How does your level of patience affect your experience of Joy?
Have you experienced Joy while waiting patiently for something?
What helps you cultivate patience in your life?
Today, when you find yourself getting impatient—whether in a traffic jam, in a long line, or while waiting for important news—take a deep breath and remind yourself to be patient. Use the moment to reflect on the Joy that comes from trusting in God’s Timing.
