Bible Reading 101ਨਮੂਨਾ

As a Students Pastor, I’m asked all the time how to read the Bible. It’s a good question because reading the Bible can be scary, intimidating, and even confusing! So, we are going to break down some easy ways to start reading through the Bible together. Because with a few of these tools, you will become much more confident in reading and understanding Scripture!
One of the most important things I tell someone who is interested in starting to read the Bible is to start small! So, we are going to be reading a few verses of Scripture over the next few days and begin to build a habit.
Bible reading can be different than reading other books in that oftentimes when I read my Bible, I read a passage two to three times before moving on! The verses of the Bible are jam-packed with good and interesting stuff that I like to slow down and ask myself a question as I read.
“What is God revealing to me?”
I’ll read the passage, ask myself that question, and read the passage again. Sometimes, a specific word will stick out to me; sometimes, a whole verse will stick out to me. So what do I do? I underline it or highlight it! Then I keep a Post-it note or my notes app nearby and write down anything that pops into my head about the verse. It can be as simple as that!
So go back and read through our passage of the day today, Hebrews 4:12-16. Read it once, then ask yourself, “What is God revealing to me?” and then read it again!
You’ll be amazed at what asking this small question will do as you read your Bible!
