The First Letter of Johnਨਮੂਨਾ

But You Have an Anointing
The word 'antichrist" is not speaking of the ‘final enemy’ that a lot of people believe and preach on, at least not in this passage. This ‘antichrist’ refers mostly to some specific teacher who was preaching an anti-Christ message. Many such “antichrists have appeared”, and scholars agree that in the context of this letter, we should understand “antichrist” as being preachers of Gnosticism, or a type of doctrine that contradicts Jesus’ life and message.
The Gospel is perfect - that means that it is complete; nothing could be added to it and still be the perfect Gospel. Today, many of us may be lured into believing in a false gospel; a gospel that preaches that we need to have faith in Jesus, but we also need to do something more. Believing that Christ’s sacrifice wasn’t enough is believing in an ‘anti-Christ’ gospel.
Devotional Question:
Sometimes, we need a reminder we have an anointing from Christ. He is all we need, and He is more than enough.
Are there aspects in my life where I believe an imperfect gospel?

About this Plan

1 John is one of the most quoted books of the Bible, and for a good reason: John understood God’s love in a special way. As we explore the pages of this book, let that be our main goal: to understand the love of God better and better, and to grow closer to Him.
