The LIGHT of the Worldਨਮੂਨਾ

L stands for life
Do you remember from back in science class how plants stay alive? They live, in part, because of photosynthesis, the process by which they soak in the light that gives life to their cells. In fact, if my research is accurate, the few plants that seem to live in total darkness actually feed off of other plants that have previously been in the light! In summary, light = life.
This is part of what Jesus meant when he claimed, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). Just as plants need the sun, people need the Son. The light of Jesus’ forgiving love is what gives life to the cells of our souls. Without Jesus, we would shrivel and die spiritually, but with Jesus, we have life.
The devil would love to convince us that we are still in the dark, that we are going to die and not be holy enough to rub shoulders with angels. But that great deceiver has failed to mention that every follower of Jesus will never walk in darkness but instead have the light of life.
Friend, don’t let the devil lie to you today. Because of Jesus, you are already in the light and, because of his constant rays of love, you always will be. You will have the light of life! You, because of Jesus, are “the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14).
