Promises in the Psalmsਨਮੂਨਾ

Promises: Joy Comes
Sometimes we can feel it coming our way. Like a person who loses their footing on a steep climb, we feel our emotions slipping. Waves of anxiety can hit like a rogue wave, causing our souls to stumble.
- Our teenager is late coming home on a stormy night.
- Our boss wants to see us first thing in the morning.
- The doctor wants to run more tests.
- We wait as our loved one has surgery.
- The doctor says, “I’m sorry. There is nothing more we can do.”
- We’ve burned through our life savings.
- Our spouse walks away.
Life is filled with waves of uncertainty. So, what do we do? The psalmist instructs us to turn it over to God.
Psalm 94:18-19
When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.
When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.
Just turn to God…sounds so simple. It is simple, and it is very difficult! We want to fix things ourselves. We want to be in control. But when we turn to God, we are turning to an unfailing love that can’t be measured and a grace that has no limits. Turning the control over to him is where we finally find freedom.
Father, some are reading this with a heart saturated by anxiety. Allow them right now to feel the calming comfort of your Spirit. Give them a certainty of your presence that always comes with a deep peace. Let them know that since you are for us, nothing can stand against us. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
