Day 1: Plugging Into God's Word
It's simple to lose sight of God's plan for our lives when life feels out of control. I'm sure that your social life and schoolwork can make you stressed out! But in the midst of chaos, turning to God's word can help us find calm and direction.
We are reminded of God's promises and faithfulness as we read and study His word. Although we recognize the need of setting aside time to read your Bible, here are some doable ways to do it regularly.
Decide on a certain time each day to read. Possibly in the morning or right before going to sleep. By doing so, you can create a routine and develop the daily habit of reading the Bible.
A study Bible can be helpful, too. A study bible can help by providing context and meaning because, let's face it, some portions of the bible can be a little difficult to read.
Locate a peaceful area where you may concentrate on their reading without being interrupted.
Start with The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John). These works can be simpler to understand because they concentrate on the life and teachings of Jesus.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for sending us your word, which instructs us and serves as a reminder of your love. Please remind me to draw strength from Your promises and Your word whenever I feel depleted. Amen, in the name of Jesus.
