The book of Jonah is a story of compassion and grace, where God calls Jonah to proclaim His message to the people of Nineveh, a city known for its wickedness. After being thrown overboard and swallowed by a whale, Jonah repents and is delivered to Nineveh to deliver God’s message. To Jonah's surprise, the people of Nineveh repent of their sins and turn to God to receive forgiveness, thus showing God's compassionate and gracious nature to all.
